FAQs
Q: What size port does the StitchKit® device pass through?
A. The StitchKit passes easily thru a 12mm port.
Q. Are all the components latex free?
A. Yes, all the components are latex free.
Q. Does it matter which of the 6 suture needles I grasp first within the cartridge?
A. No, the 6 sutures are housed specifically in a fashion that they can be grasped in any order.
Q. Is the device radio-opaque?
A. Yes, due to the stainless steel needles themselves. When used correctly, StitchKit should always be detectable using x-ray because at any given time only one needle should be “in play,” leaving the other 5 needles within the device.
Q. How does the StitichKit open?
A. At each end of StitchKit, there are two tabs – a large tab and a small tab. To open the kit, simply twist the larger tabs at each end simultaneously with the robotic needle holders. Stitchkit should always be handled using the tabs.
Q. Does the StitchKit need to be closed during the procedure? Can any of the needles in the needle cartridge holder dislodge while open?
A. It is not necessary for the StitchKit to be closed during the surgical procedure. Once a used needle is properly placed into the disposal compartment (the needle goes into the compartment blunt end first), the needle is secure within the clear housing, unable to be dislodged. StitchKit only needs to be closed at the very end of the procedure.
Q. Is there a recommended location to grasp the StitchKit device during removal of the sutures?
A. Robotic needle holders should grasp one of the two tabs at either end of the device while the suture is being removed. Stitchkit should always be handled using the tabs.
Q. Will all the needles be visible in the sharps container at the end of the procedure?
A. Yes, the StitchKit disposal container is clear so that the used needles can be counted prior to removing the device from the surgical field. This is typically easy to do with the 3D HD visualization by the Da Vinci® system.
Q. How many StitchKit devices come in a box?
A. There are six StitchKits in each box.
Q. How do I order StitchKit or receive further information?
